RE: First and maybe last work camping job

What did the owners have to say when you asked them about the extra hours you were working?

RE: Brooklyn Lake Campground, Snowy Range, Wyoming

Well we made it back.
About 10,500 ft elevation.
Sites 1, 7, 8, 9, IMHO, have the best views of the lake. We stayed in #1. Nice and roomy.
We woke up Friday morning, August 15th, to an 1 1/2" of snow. Was pretty.

RE: Woods Landing Wyoming

We stayed here one night.
I wouldnt recommened it. Its not really a campground.
Pretty much just a gravel parking area with electric hookups. Water was a spigot that you filled your tank with. You dont stay hooked to it.
The folks working there were all very nice.

RE: 5th Wheel Insurance

We had our ins with the same co as our vehicles. I was told that the liabilty ins was covered by truck ins unless the fiver is detached. Even if it becomes detached while going down the highway! They did not have gap ins. They did not cover contents. No towing for fiver. I wasnt going to chance everthing i have on insurance i didnt trust to cover us or someone else.
We checked others and chose Progressive. I have delt with them in the past, at my shop, and they seem to be good. We got the coverage we wanted, or felt we needed. And it was quiet a bit less per year.
I didnt want to find out i didnt have the right coverage while putting in a claim.
Ask all questions , no matter how dumb they may sound.
Enjoy the new camper.

RE: KZ Sportsmen 245 RLS2

We have had one since the beginning of May.
The awning and slide thing is a bit of a pain.
We will usually put the awning out first then the slide, so i can get the awning tight. It has to be pretty much straight out, not much slope to it.
You can put the awning out and in with the slide out out, but i dont like to. The edges are not sharp but you do have to be careful.
We have talked about putting a slide topper on for when we dont have the awning out. And to also give a curved area as apposed to the edge on the slide.
Also had thought about useing pipe insulation, the foam stuff slit, to put over the edge. But i think that would be a pain to put on and off.
Have the sales people show you the awning/slide setup so you can see any problems and know exactly what you are getting.
We really like the layout of the camper and will deal with the awning/slide situation.
Another thing to consider is the lack of windows on the awning side of the living area.
Overall we really like our camper. There are some issues that KZ or our dealer will have to take care of when we are able to get it to them. Mostly small stuff.
Good luck, Ken

RE: Talladega Superspeedway camping info needed

If you are running a gen, make sure your CO detector is ok. Not much air flow usually to pull the fumes away from your camper or your neighbors.
A person from a town just south of us passed away from co poisoning at Indy 500. The fumes were from a camper next to them.
Dont want to be a kill joy, just would hate to here of it again.

RE: NFS Yellow Pine Campground, Wyoming

Thanks for the reply.
We are going to give it a drive thru and see what we think.
Going to town would be cheap on gas but that climb back to the top of the summit will use the savings up. :)
There isnt much for camping in town. I dont want to stay at the koa, to close to the highway.
We might go out to Woods Landing west of Laramie. It has elec and water hookups, but no trees or shade.
Most of our stay will be up at the Snowy Range at Brooklyn Lake.
Thanks, Ken

I 80 From Lincoln, Neb. west

Is the road construction on Interstae 80 as bad as the state map makes it look ? Looked like a lot of little orange flags.
We will be going from Lincoln to Laramie, Wy.

RE: St Louis Flooding

MRUSA,
I havent seen or heard of any flooding up by the Queen. And believe me, the media would be there if it was flooding.
St. Louis is fine. I think the river has crested already and will start dropping. No problems with getting in or out. Some of the immediete river front stuff is closed because of the water. Arch and all the sights are open and safe. Most of the bad flooding has taken place north of St. Louis.
Enjoy your visit, Ken

RE: Woods Landing Wyoming

We spoke with the folks at Woods Landing. The campsites are not rivers edge, but close. Out in the open, so not shaded. Sites are elec and water, definatly a plus. Sewer dump at the property.
We will probably give it a try for part of our stay.

switchable back up lights on truck

Has anyone wired the back up lights of there truck to a switch?
When i try and back up in the dark, the truck back up lights have so much glare off the front of the camper, you cant see anything in the mirrors. I was wondering if anyone else had wired a switch into them.
I guess i could just keep a couple of old towels in the truck and throw them over the lights when i backup.
Figure i will put some back up lights on the camper.
Thanks, Ken

RE: Brooklyn Lake Campground, Snowy Range, Wyoming

Thanks for the reply.
I hadnt thought about the sat images for the campground. That helped alot. I did use it for Woods Landing.
We usually go up there every August when we go to Laramie to visit with my father in law. It can be pretty chili, but feels great. It is usually upper nineties and high humidity when we leave our house to go to Wyoming.
Thanks again, Ken

Brooklyn Lake Campground, Snowy Range, Wyoming

This is the other part of our trip while visiting my FIL in Laramie, Wy. We usually fly out and stay at his house. This year we have the new fiver and he has to come to find us.
We have driven up and fished at Brooklyn Lake many times, but i never looked at campsite numbers. I was wondering about campsites with the lake and mountain view? Or if anyone had a prefered site?
Thanks, Ken

Woods Landing Wyoming

Has anyone stayed at the campground at Woods Landing, Wyoming? We have been there a few times, but never been to the campsites.
Are the sights on the river? What did you think of the place?
We may be spend a few nights there this summer, and was looking for some insight.
Thanks, Ken

16000 UBS. I just installed the rail kit a couple weeks ago. Not terrible to install. Would have been easier if i didnt have air bags.
I will find out how it is Friday when we pick up the new fiver.
